Family Friendly Super easy for children to be able to do.

Regardless of extended daylight hours in the summer, the park closes at 7 p.m. CST and all cars still left in the lot will be ticketed and/or towed. No swimming is allowed in Hidden Lake, but fishing is permitted.

Description

An easy .7 mile out-and-back trail in the Hidden Lake tract of Harpeth Valley State Park (1.4 miles total). The trailhead is clearly marked at the parking lot and begins by heading away from the Harpeth River into a marked path through tall grass. Unfortunately, there are some unmarked cut-throughs leading to the nearby Blue Bird Loop Trail, which can be confusing for a first-timer. The key is to stay to the left by the tree line and not take any route heading through the field. Upon reaching the wooded area, however, the trail is very clearly marked and easy to follow.

This is all that's left of the old marble dance floor at Hidden Lake.

Gorgeous, winding portion of the trail northeast of the lake. I imagine this is VERY nice in the Spring.

An impressive rock pillar stands along the loop.

An appropriate Vonnegut quote marks a bench near one of the overlooks. This is a great spot for a lunch break!
