Features Views

Mountain bikes and 4-wheel-drive vehicles are allowed in the park on the backcountry roads. In order to protect yourself and the surrounding ecosystem, mechanical travel is restricted to established roads. Tracks on open desert can remain for years and damages the desert ecosystem while tarnishing the experience for subsequent visitors. Off-road vehicles and all-terrain vehicles may not be used in the park.

Description

Beginning 6.5 miles (10.5 km) north of the Cottonwood Visitor Center, this remote, dirt road skirts the side of Pinto Basin, crossing a number of dry washes, passing old wells and mine sites, and winding through canyons in the Eagle Mountains before a dead-end at BLM land.

The first nine miles (14.5 km) off Pinto Basin Road are within the national park boundary. The remainder of the road is on Palm Springs South Coast Management area land with the Bureau of Land Management.
