As with many trails in Joshua Tree, be sure to bring ample water and sun protection.
Description
This trail is one of the many options for hikers in the Maze area. The nearest parking area is at the small pullout for
The Maze Loop Trail and
North View Trail. This route can also be accessed from the
Boy Scout Trail.
The trail itself will add about 2 miles to your trip, one way. If you're looking to extend a
North View Trail/
The Maze Loop Trail loop, this can be a great option, especially since the spur that branches off about halfway through offers great views.
The trail itself is similar to those that you'll need to take to access this one. The trail features some gentle hills and a few scrambles, making it exciting even for those who have visited before. Mesquite and cat's claw can make for prickly trail companions, so keep an eye out for them on the side of the route. Rugged in nature, the trail doesn't provide much in the way of markings, so it would be smart to bring a map or the
Hiking Project mobile app.
Flora & Fauna
Mesquite, cat's claw, and oak are all present on this route.
