The best access for this trail begins at Gilbert Road. Driving along Ridge Road from Shippensburg Road, you'll find parking for 6 vehicles near the power line. The map shows the intersecting road as Fegley Road but the trail signs on Ridge Road indicate it is Gilbert Road. Proceed under the power lines 1/4 mile to an open area. Look for a sign post for Astronomy Trail to the right of the grassy area. There are occasional red blazes.

From here, the trail remains fairly level on hard packed soil, passing through open woodland with acres of blueberry bushes and mountain laurel. The trail becomes narrow in places from the overgrowth. At 1.5-miles, the trail begin a rocky descent to Milesburn Road within sight of Baltimore Rd. There is a private driveway across the street and possibly space for 2 cars in a pull off spot on Milesburn Rd.

This is a mixed hardwood forest with an abundance of blueberry and mountain laurel.
