This trail starts at the south end of the Elephant Terrace. As you step down from the terrace, heading west, you'll see the Royal Palace wall on your right with the Baphuon causeway on your left. After a short distance, you'll see a gate through the palace wall. Continue past this and follow the trail to the second gate in the wall and hike through that. Follow the trail north, past the back of Phimeanakas Temple and Sras Srei pools.
Again, you'll approach the north wall of the Royal Palace and a gate straight ahead. The trail appears to split and go east along the wall to a small window opening. This is a dead end. Hike through the large gate. At this point, you have left the Royal Palace compound.
The trail continue north towards Preah Palilay Temple. At that point, the trail turns east and as you approach the back of the Leper King Terrace, there is a large stone gate on the right and a dirt path between that gate and the east wall of the palace. Head through this and after a short hike you reach the back of the main gate to the Royal Palace. Turn left and hike through the main entrance onto the Elephant Terrace and the end of the trail.
