Description

The Loggers Trail (Red) is a one of the shorter trails that the park could offered. You would enjoy great views and a good bit of exercise in an hour.

Start from the parking lot and hike toward the Nature Center, then cross the bridge and turn right onto the red-blazed Loggers Trail. Turn right at the following T-intersection. In mid-July, keep your eyes peeled for a bunch of wild red berries growing just a few feet from the intersection. In less than a quarter mile, cross a gas pipeline path.

Once you pass the gas pipeline path, turn right and hike along the pipeline. After a few hundred feet, the Logger Trail will turn to the left into the woods. Go straight and hike a few feet and you'll pass the white-blazed Short Cut Trail. In another few hundred feet, you'll pass the yellow-blazed Ivy Hill Trail.

Less than a quarter mile, you'll meet blue-blazed Laurel trail on your left. Keep hiking.
You'll pass a green-blazed Virginia Pine Trail on your left.

Less than a quarter mile or so, yellow-blazed trail (again) on your right. Go straight on a few hundred feet and then turn left onto the Loggers Trail.

The old ski slope will be on your right, which affords beautiful views of the Hunt Valley.

Now descending a hill, continue hiking along the Logger Trail to cross another pipeline path and reach a large junction.

At the junction, turn left and hike up hill for a few hundred feet and look for the orange-blazed Lake Trail on your right. Follow the orange-blazed trail to cross a bridge and head uphill, with the lake on your right side, to end near the parking lot where you started.
