The Pre Rup Trail circles the outer wall of this mountain style temple. The trail is less than a half mile and offers great views of each side of the temple. It is a popular destination to watch the sunrise and sunset, especially sunset. The trail is flat, but offers great photo opportunities. Most people only explore the inside of the temple walls. When you visit, take the time to explore this short trail before or after your exploration of the inner temple.
This is one of only three temple in Angkor that allow visitors to arrive at 5:00 a.m. (to watch sunrise) and closes at 7:00 p.m. (to watch sunset). This trip I visited for sunrise so the trail photos are a little dark.
