• North Country Trail (NCT): Minnesota

This section of the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCT) crosses the Red River Valley, loops around through Fergus Falls, and then heads north through the scenic Leaf Hills. Two biomes come together here with the Tallgrass Prairie (mostly converted to agriculture) and the Hardwood Hills mixing. North of Fergus Falls, the NCT follows the glacial moraine - an area of rolling gravel hills interspersed with hundreds of lakes.

Off-road segments include:

* At the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center, within Delagoon Park, along the Central Lakes Trail, within One Mile Prairie, and along the Otter Tail River within Fergus Falls
* Within Maplewood State Park
