“A track connecting from McKenzie Bay Road to the trails on the summit of Rangitoto.
”
Rangitoto is a pest-free island. Be sure to check your bags and clean your gear and footwear before visiting the island.
Description
From the junction with McKenzie Bay Road on the west side of Rangitoto Island, the Summit Road climbs steadily for about two miles, heading west through the forest. Near the top of the climb, hikers will pass the junctions for the Wilson's Park Track, the Summit Track Connector, and the Summit Track Connector which all lead to the cone and summit of the volcano. If continuing on the Summit Road, the track descends briefly before coming to its endpoint at the Islington Bay Road.
The island is only accessible by water; check out the ferry schedule for more information on getting to Rangitoto.
