Description
This short trail climbs from the wharf to the summit of Rangitoto where you'll enjoy stunning view of downtown Auckland, the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, Motutapu Island, Waiheke Island, and the Hauraki Gulf.
The trail climbs gradually, first through scrubby plants and trees and large, black lava rock fields to progressively taller and more lush forests. Near the top, you'll pass the volcanic cone whose steep sides are now covered with trees. There is a large viewing platform at the top where you can take in the 360° views that are particularly stunning at sunrise or sunset.

Flora & Fauna
A large pohutukawa forest that is home to many birds such as the Tuī.
