The portion of the Lookout Track from Te Haruahi Bay to the Lookout that runs concurrent with the TiriTiri Track is currently closed due to a landslide.
Description
This short loop is a great way to access one of the highlights of Shakespear Regional Park - the man-made lookout. This wooden lookout gives visitors 360-degree views of the area including views of downtown Auckland, the islands of the Hauraki Gulf (Great Barrier Island, Little Barrier Island, and Tiritiri Matangi) and views to the north of Wenderholm and Mahurangi parks.
This blue-blazed loop shares the northern portion with the yellow-blazed Heritage Track and the eastern portion with the red-blazed
Tiritiri Track. The tracks are marked by colored wooden posts to help designate the route.
There is one steep climb straight up a grassy hillside from the road near Te Haruhi Bay up to the
Heritage Trail. Apart from this one hill, the rest of the track is fairly easy.
