Overview

This very easily accessible, 4.2-mile scenic hike from Cold Spring Harbor utilizes the northern portion of the Nassau-Suffolk Trail. Along the way, enjoy nice views of the harbor near the north end and the lake, as well as dense, scenic woodlands.

Description

From the parking lot along Harbor Road in Cold Spring Harbor, follow the Nassau-Suffolk Trail south up some steep stairs through pleasant forest. Eventually, the trail crosses over Lawrence Hill Road to continue south on the other side, now in Trail View State Park. When you reach the junction with Route 108 (Harbor Road), this hike makes a turnaround.

Along the way, some roots make the path more interesting and some significant grades will challenge you, but overall, this hike is open, accessible, and easy to follow.
