A good choice for a longer, quieter hike
Many archaeological sites exist in Boynton Canyon. Please do not disturb dwellings by touching them or leaning on them. And do not touch rock art because the oil from your skin will damage and deteriorate the art forever.
Overview
A shaded route that starts out in a Juniper forest and ends in a Ponderosa forest along Boynton Canyon.
Need to Know
Please respect any closed areas and trail restorations signs.
Description
The trailhead is at the end of Boynton Canyon Road near the entrance of Enchantment Resort. The trail goes along the property of Enchantment Resort for about one mile. This is the rockiest part of the trail. Do not trespass on resort property.
After entering the canyon bottom, the trail becomes flat and sandy. This section is a pleasure for hiking and very easy. The path is surrounded by red rock cliffs and is very beautiful, especially as the sun sets. The trail continues along the dry creekbed for the remainder of the route.
Return the way you came for more views of the red rock through the forest.
Flora & Fauna
