Family Friendly Adventurous youngsters will love hiking past the waters of Bottom Creek.

Description

This route is one of the more adventurous trails at the Bottom Creek Gorge. You'll be following close to the water for much of the route, and hearing the power of this tributary to the Roanoke River is a great addition to your hike.

The trail begins off of the Entrance Road, and is the first trail intersection you'll come to. You'll begin on mostly flat terrain before a steep drop to the water's edge. Use caution in this portion, especially after a rain. From there, the route meanders gently uphill, eventually coming to an end near the Johnston Trail and the viewpoint of the Falls Overlook.

Like the other trails in the area, there is plenty of shade provided by old growth hardwoods, and wildflowers in the spring are an added bonus.
