To access this trail, you must pay the $16 park entrance fee. The trailhead is located 1.25 miles from the entrance gate along a gravel road, but there are signs marking the way to the trailhead.

Description

This trail is a great opportunity to see white-faced monkeys in their natural habitat, especially in the mornings. The trail also has several great viewpoints along the way. If you have a sharp eye, you may be able to find a sloth.

Translated, Sendero Punta Catedral means Cathedral Point Trail. It is a one-mile long trail that circles Cathedral Point peninsula. This trail has been improved quite a bit since the very first time I visited it. Now, the trail is well-defined, has steps at all the hills along the way, and boardwalk platforms at viewpoints.

Over the years, I've seen great wildlife along this trail. It is best to hike this early in the morning. This is the best chance to see white-faced monkeys in the jungle as opposed to along the beach. After 10 am, the monkeys descend out of the jungle and hang around the beach the rest of the day.
