The trail map will show a bridge across Lake Placid. The bridge has been closed.

Overview

With beautiful views of Lake Placid, the trails in this hike traverse several clear running streams and pass right next to a beaver dam.

Need to Know

Many of the boardwalks are slippery when wet.

Description

The featured hike is made up of four separate trails, each around one mile in length. Start out on the Friends Trail, before transitioning to the Lake Shore Trail, the Owens Spring Trail, and finally taking another portion of the Lake Shore Trail back to the start.

The boardwalks allow easy passage through low-lying areas surrounding the lake. The lake is inhabited by a pair of ospreys which are often sighted flying overhead. Hikers will pass over several clear streams and can experience both the deciduous forest and bayou environments along the trails.

Flora & Fauna

Osprey, squirrels.

History & Background

There is a historical log cabin in the park, which makes for an excellent stopping point.
