This trail is similar to the Cougar Crest Trail to Bertha Peak further east along Big Bear Lake. The views from Gray's Peak are more interesting, perhaps as the result of looking the long direction across the lake.

Starting at the parking area, the trail climbs steady grades on pleasant singletrack. Upon reaching a forest road, the trail turns north to follow the doubletrack for a few hundred yards before departing left for more singletrack and an increase in grade. A little more than 2 miles and almost a thousand feet of elevation later, the trail finally reaches the summit of Gray's Peak and rewards its patrons with great views of Big Bear Lake.
