Brazos Bend State Park has been known to flood so be sure to check for trail closures before heading out here if it has rained heavily recently.

Description

This nearly perfectly flat trail starts from the Hale Lake Parking Area at the very end of the park road. If you go counterclockwise, you'll find the trailhead at the very southernmost part of the large parking area. Take the trail south for a short distance before turning straight east (left) through a small meadow surrounded by forest.

After a little under a half mile, the trail will reach the Brazos River. It turns north and follows the river before heading back inland a little along a small drainage and through thick forests. In about another half mile from where you first met the Brazos River, the trail will turn west (left) and heads away from the drainage. This will take you on a round-about way back to the parking area (but near the middle of the large parking area).
