Description
From the parking lot, take the
Visitor Center Trail past the Visitor Center until you can take the first right. Both the
Visitor Center Trail and this trail are flat boardwalks from beginning to end.
The trail gives a great view of swamp life with many animals lazing in the sun just feet away below the boardwalk. Depending on the season, you may get great views of many swamp flowers typically isolated away from viewing. The trees are a little less thick compared to other trails in the area, which allows broader views and more direct sun.
When the trail terminates you have the choice to head back or continue on the
Bayou Coquille Trail. This trail is handicap accessible.
Check the
NPS website to see what flowers are blooming during your visit.
Flora & Fauna
Black and yellow garden spiders (not banana spiders), owls, hogs, alligators, and corn snakes and tons of other swamp critters.
