Slickrock Creek Road is gated and closed to the public from January 1 through April 1 annually.

Description

The Big Fat Trail starts at the Big Fat Gap Trailhead on Slickrock Road (NC Forest Road 62) at the midpoint of the Hangover Lead Trail # 56. The Big Fat Trail leaves the parking area and quickly descends steeply to Slickrock Creek, dropping 600 feet in the first 0.6 miles. At 1.4 miles, turn left at the intersection with Nichols Cove Trail. After fording a small stream, the trail terminates at the intersection with Slickrock Creek Trail.
