Description

From the intersection with Slickrock Creek Trail, the trail follows Big Stack Branch for the first 0.4 miles, along a relatively flat section of trail.

The trail then veers off to the right away from the creek and begins a strenuous climb with very few switchbacks to break it up, 1000 feet in one mile. If you need water, there is a small spring around 1.2 miles in.

The intense climb rewards you with incredible views as you come out onto the ridge at the top, around mile 1.4. After a brief flat spell along the ridge, you begin the last push up to Fodderstack Horse Trail #95. There is a decent campsite at this junction, but the nearest water is the aforementioned spring.
