Description

We connected to the Yaupon Trail from the Peach Tree Loop in order to reach the eastern portions of the Park. This trail is very easy and flat singletrack trail composed mostly of sandy packed soil with occasional muddy areas. The trail traverses a thick pine forest with occasional swampy areas featuring large stands of palmetto palms. We took this in February, so it was too early in spring for many wildflowers.

The Yaupon Trail traverses a gravel park road so be careful of car traffic. It was very lightly traveled when we visited, and visibility is very good in both directions. The Yaupon Trail terminates at 5-Mile Road, but across the road is the beginning of the 2.9-mile long Logger's Loop Trail.
