Description

This trail connects the Wetlands Trail with the High Trail. You can start your journey on either end. This trail is partially doubletrack and partially singletrack, and along the way the tread varies between grass and dirt paths. You travel across the northwestern reaches of the wetlands where you'll have plenty of opportunity for wildlife and bird viewing. There were signs of coyotes, wild hogs, as well as other wetland and forest creatures when we visited. This trail is just a short outing, but can be a bit daunting depending on the the water level in the area. When mapping this trail, a 30 yard section in the middle of the trail was impassable due to high water. Especially when the route is dry, this route overall is a nice trail that follows the edge of the upper wetlands.

Flora & Fauna

There are plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities as coyotes, wild hogs, raccoons and other forest and wetland creatures call this area home. For a birding checklist visit the City of Denton's website at: cityofdenton.com/residents/….
