Need to Know

On the weekends this trail can turn into a major thoroughfare, so be mindful of other trail users, two-wheeled and two-legged.

Description

The PDR is a mostly flat singletrack trail that is just over a mile long. However, if Hikers use the Paseo Del Rio Connector to finish this trail the journey is more like 1.3 miles from the Lighthouse trailhead parking to Givens, Spicer, Lowry Trail trailhead parking.

Hikers often spot turkey, deer, and other wildlife on this trail, especially along the river. There are several interesting things along this trail including a native rain dance ceremonial rock structure. One can access the Chinaberry day-use area restroom just over halfway along this trail.

Just past the day-use area is a cowboy dugout that visitors like to check out. Just before finishing the trail, one will climb a final steep hill and pass a windmill before the terrain opens up to the Givens, Spicer, Lowry Trail trailhead parking area.

This trail is also used to connect the Givens, Spicer & Lowry Trail trailhead with the Lighthouse Trail to form a loop. Additionally, many use it in conjunction with the Comanche Trail System.
