Over half of the trail is comprised of switchbacks through the forest. Once you clear the trees, it's a trek with some very scenic and open vistas to the top of Coliseum Mountain. After just under 4 miles, you'll reach the summit, where views are incredible. Take you time to admire them before turning back to retrace your steps.

There is a relatively thin path over the rocks near the top that can be a little precarious if there is snow/ice up there.

A number of woodpeckers were active in the forest around September
