Description
La Senda del Oso is a green path based on a mining railway. After mining stopped, it was converted into a well-paved and beautiful route. It is surrounded by mountains, forest and wildlife, with a community of good people and good food.
The route starts in El Entrago and goes downhill on an easy slope. When you start, you can see a lot of people climbing the nearest walls and lot of people biking also. The path goes towards a river that will follow the entire route. You can enjoy nature here; go through forests with beautiful local trees, pass through tunnels constructed in the middle of the huge rocks, all of which make for an amazing experience.
A few kilometres further, you'll pass some mountain gorges which are really awesome and make you feel little. The sounds of nature will guide you throughout the adventure and if you have a sunny day, you can stop and relax to hear them.
You can also find several places to picnic or have a snack. At Caranga de Abajo, you can take a cross to go to Valdemurrio Lake, which is really beautiful but it will add 10 extra kilometres to the route. We recommend doing it if you are biking, as the extra distance might be a bit much for an everyday hike.
After arriving at Proaza, you'll find a fenced area where four brown bears live. You can see them without straying from the route.
After finishing, there are several places where you can enjoy the good food of the area, which is delightful and you really shouldn't miss out.
The route is very nice and easy and you can see a lot of families biking through it. There are several places to a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.bicisendadeloso.es>rent a bike which includes the bike and the shuttle back to the start, however taking the route on foot is equally as enjoyable.
Also, if you are not tired, you can continue La Senda del Oso for almost 50 kilometres more so it can fit all levels or even go down and back or start the route in the opposite direction.
Hope you enjoy!
