Description

Getting there: If taking Poly Canyon Road, the intersection with Red Dog Trail is 2.5 miles from the start. At this point you'll see a four-way intersection with Tough and Dirty Slide Trail to the left and Poly Canyon Road continuing ahead. Take a right and continue uphill toward the train tracks.

From Tough and Dirty, take a right at the intersection with Poly Canyon Road, and you'll see a road continuing up to the train tracks passing a large water trough. Take a left and hike parallel to the train tracks along a dirt road for about 400m. The trail will be on the right across the tracks.

The Trail: Red Dog is a worthy alternative to Stenner Creek Trail and Elevator Trail as a way to access the Euks MTB park and from there Morning Glory Trail and Shooters. After crossing the train tracks, the singletrack gets rough, rutted, and occasionally muddy and continues through rolling hills and low brush for a mile. For the last half mile, the trail improves greatly. It enters a dense oak grove, crosses multiple streams, and the trail is much more well-maintained. The trail terminates at the Euks MTB park.

I recommend ascending Red Dog and descending Elevator Trail and Stenner Creek Trail, especially after the rain.
