Description

This is a natural-surface trail through trees, brush and grassland from Clay Road north to the eastern bank of Langham Creek in Addicks Reservoir. Though routed through better drained and higher ground as much as possible, there are sections which flood after rains and remain muddy for some time thereafter. Users should always be prepared for mosquitoes.

The southern end is at the intersection of Clay Road and War Memorial. The trail begins directly north of the traffic signal. A bar ditch must be crossed and it can be impassable after rains. Most of the trail passes through tall trees and brush. After about a mile, the trail reaches the Langham Creek channel and follows the left bank to end at the Mary Helen Lee Trail. The Wise Fox Alternate is generally more prone to mud. The Wise Fox Cutoff offers a shortcut if travelling to North Eldridge Parkway to the east.

According to US Army Corps of Engineers' records, the land on the south end of this trail was owned by Henry J. Fox et al before the land was appropriated for the reservoir. That parcel was about 38 acres. The north end of the trail is on a tract of about 146 acres owned by R. E. Wise and his wife. Several other people owned land along this route between the Fox and Wise holdings.
