This is a trace in Addicks Reservoir that is not maintained. Please comply with Corps of Engineer's regulations by not disturbing the ground or vegetation. Vehicles are prohibited. Please refer to the "Addicks Reservoir" page for area-wide information.

Note that the Corps of Engineers may close areas to access for wildlife control operations. Look for signs at the entrances to Noack Trail and Miles Trail as the entrance to Malsbury Trace may not be marked.

Description

This is a natural-surface path along the west bank of a tributary to Turkey Creek. The north end is at Clay Road and the south end is the Banzai Pipeline across Turkey Creek. The path remains muddy for a time after rains. There are several drainages from the west that enter the creek that may not be passable after rains. Users should always be prepared for mosquitoes.

The total length of the trace is about 1.2 miles. Beginning at Clay Road and going south along the west bank of the creek, the trace is on a wide and generally dry bank for about 0.7 miles. At this point, the wide bank stops and the trace cuts sharply right and runs through the brush, parallel to the creek. It stays just east of the creek until reaching the Banzai Pipeline, which crosses Turkey Creek.

According to US Army Corps of Engineers' records, most of this trail is on land that was owned by W. A. Malsbury et al before appropriation for the reservoir.

The pipeline - an option for crossing Turkey Creek. It's big enough that it isn't difficult at all to walk across. The difficulty is dealing with the log jam on the east side. GPS coordinates: 29.81815 -95.58837

The south end of Malsbury. There is an orange stake to help you not miss the turn, as well as rope wrapped around 2 trees. Go straight/south 550 feet and you're at Banzai pipeline. Turn right and you're headed for Bauer Trail. GPS: 29.81982, -95.58898
