Plenty of space for kids to run around in this expansive greenbelt park, as well as lots of options for a picnic.
Description
This trail winds through a forest with lots of open space for relaxing, walking the dog, or just enjoying the outdoors. The trail also follows the shoreline of a small lake full of waterfowl. Picnic tables, public restrooms, a pavilion, and a playground round out the amenities of this very large, local greenspace.
The trail is all paved and is suitable for running, hiking, or cycling. Minimal elevation change makes this an enjoyable smooth hike. The scenery surrounding the trail is peaceful and very clean with plenty of room to find solitude away from others.
Dogs are allowed on leashes. Portions of the trail run over Rowlett Creek, which, during heavy rain events, is prone to flooding. The paved trail provides access to the singletrack trail toward the north end of the park. This trail also connects with an extensive trail system in the Oak Point Nature Preserve via the northern end of the trail.
Parks are managed by Plano Parks and Recreation and are well maintained. There is ample parking at the park entrance.
