Description
A short balloon loop trail with views of the Florida Scrub Jays—a threatened species that is Florida's only endemic bird. This loops through a diversity of habitats—pine flatwoods, patches of oak scrub, sand pine scrub, and freshwater depression marshes.
The scrub palms and other undergrowth are about waist height until about a quarter-mile in when you enter foliage above head height. The VERY friendly scrub jays make their appearance about 0.6 miles in (before the trail turns south).
