Overview

This loop is a nice option for hikers looking for an easier option at Harriman State Park that still allows you to enjoy the lovely scenery that the park has to offer.

Description

You can start at the Reeves Meadow Visitors Center (which you can access from the Sloatsburg Metro Station to Harriman Mountain State Park Visitors' Center).

Begin by following the Pine Meadow Trail along the Stony Brook and then along the Pine Meadow Brook. Choose your direction around the lake at the main trail junction (this description goes clockwise). Be mindful that there are two types of red blaze: solid red and red on a white background!

Finish heading around the lake by taking a right onto Pine Meadow Lake Woods Road to connect back to the Raccoon Brook Hills Trail and Pine Meadow Trail. You can then take the Kakiat Trail to the Stony Brook Trail to head back on the opposite side of the brooks to avoid too much trail repetition. This is a fairly simple but lovely hike that you can easily tack more onto if you want.
