Family Friendly
Easy terrain, good railings, great views, and a possibility of seeing whales make this a perfect family outing.
$5 per day fee applies; Federal Interagency (America the Beautiful) passes and national forest passes waive the fee.
Description
From the parking area at the end of the road, work your way up the wide, paved path toward the lighthouse. A viewpoint on left a short distance from the parking area offers views south to sea stacks and the coastline. Continue around the lighthouse to another viewpoint, with more views of sea stacks and Beverly Beach. Also enjoy signs describing the lighthouse's history and migrating whales.
To tour the lighthouse, register (first come, first serve) at the visitor center. Tours are limited to 16 people. More information is available on the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area webpage.
