Free wilderness permits and campfire permits are required to enter the Trinity Alps Wilderness.

Description

From the junction with the Stuart Fork Trail, head west and ford the Stuart Fork. Note that early in the season, high water levels can make this ford impossible.

A mile later, at the junction with the Bear Creek Trail, stay right.

Climb steeply through sunny chaparral and past a series of waterfalls to Alpine Lake.
