Description
This paved rails-to-trails route has a rich history, and a little bit of background knowledge will certainly enhance your visit. Check out more about this trail by visiting its
website
This trail connects several communities, serves many kinds of non-motorized trail users (including hikers, runners, leashed dogs, cyclists, inline skaters, equestrians, and wheelchair users), and enables trail travel among many East Bay parklands. The going is mostly paved, but there are a few places where the pavement has been broken up.
Flora & Fauna
Suburban landscaping predominates along most of the trail. However, in the canyon between South Lucille Lane (in Lafayette) and the campus of Saint Mary's College of California (in Moraga), there is streamside riparian vegetation on one side and cattle pasture on the other.
