Family Friendly
The trail is wide and easy to traverse. Restrooms and water are available near parking areas, and there is a children's playground at the middle entrance.
Visitor hours are 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Description
The 2.3-miles of asphalt, mulch, and boardwalk trails meander through six different native plant communities and are designed for passive recreational activities such as: walking, jogging, biking, roller-blading, and skateboarding. The park is leashed-dog friendly and contains: fishing and look-out piers, a kayak/canoe launch with storage rack, bike racks, restrooms with water fountains, a playground with a tree-house, and picnic pavilions. This section of the trail system is a 12-foot wide paved trail and is the main spine portion of the trail.
Flora & Fauna
This trail is adjacent to a white mangrove forest at the beginning and ends up in the scrubby flatwoods. Birds are the main type of wildlife to be seen along this section. Species seen here include the mourning dove, northern mockingbird, osprey, pileated woodpecker, pine warbler, red-bellied woodpecker, red-shouldered hawk, eastern bluebird and common ground dove.
