Description

This is a foot trail that basically runs parallel to Mine Hill Trail but at a slightly lower elevation. Unlike Mine Hill Trail that allows horses, New Almaden Trail is for foot travel only.

The west end terminus of New Almaden Trail is Senador Mine Trail near the McAbee entrance to Quicksilver Park. The east end terminates at the Mockingbird entrance to Quicksilver Park.

Senador Mine Trail to Cinnabar Trail:
From Senador Mine Trail, New Almaden Trail goes through a wooded valley, crossing a few seasonal streams. Bridges span the larger streams. A short, gradual climb brings the trail to Mine Hill Trail, that it crosses. After crossing Mine Hill Trail, New Almaden Trail is fairly level for the next 0.9 miles where it reaches the Cinnabar Trail.

Between Mine Hill Trail and Cinnabar Trail, New Almaden Trail winds along a wooded hillside, crossing a few small, seasonal streams. At points, the woods thin offering views of the South San Francisco Bay Area and East Bay hills.

Cinnabar Trail to Prospect #3 Trail:
After crossing Cinnabar Trail, New Almaden Trail continues winding along wooded hillsides with short climbs and descents. It crosses a few seasonal streams that have bridges over them. There are occasional breaks in the woods that offer views of the San Francisco South Bay Area and East Bay hills.

Prospect #3 Trail to Hacienda Trail:
After crossing Prospect #3 Trail, the terrain becomes more rugged, the hillsides are steeper and the ravines are deeper, as New Almaden Trail continues to wind along wooded hillsides. Seasonal streams are bridged. After crossing Hacienda Trail, New Almaden Trail ends at the Mockingbird entrance to Quicksilver Park.
