Family Friendly The climb at the start is manageably steep, and kids will enjoy the narrow singletrack through the forest up above.

Description

Rooty starts off of the Hop Connector just a little ways past the cross-walk entrance. Despite the name, the trail is quite smooth and displays very few roots as it twists and winds along the contours of the hill. Sightlines are tight in this lower section, so be aware of descending trail-users.

Where Rooty eventually straightens out, the narrow trail and more open trees combine for a lovely hike as the trail travels high above the forest and road below. The narrow singletrack continues to climb over some lightly rocky terrain as it heads to the kiosk and intersection with Huff-N-Puff.

Flora & Fauna

Root-laden climbs through a dark, mixed forest to a grove of open conifers higher up. Keep your eyes and ears open for woodpeckers and other birds.
