Cross the Waipakihi River just downstream of the Waipakihi Hut and begin ascending the spur to Middle Range. The ascent is marked (orange triangles). On the tops of the large peaks, stay on the true ridge and avoid any spur to the right. Keeping left at any ridge junction ensures you stay on Middle Range.

Middle Range is not marked; however, a track is easy to follow in favorable conditions.
