Description

This is another section of the Rails-to-Trails repurposed railroad bed. It is all doubletrack except for the first short section of singletrack. This trail meanders down the old Cloud-climbing railroad to a lookout shelter with a terrific view of the basin and White Sands National Monument.

Flora & Fauna

Hike through piñon and juniper as well as some desert scrub. I have not seen much for wildlife on this short section.
