This trail is a great work out. The trailhead located is a few hundred yards up a dirt road, the Boundary Truck Trail W. The trail is rocky and steep with great views all the way to the ocean. Climb approximately 1 mile to a saddle and then continue along the ridge to the north until your reach the actual summit of Viejas Mountain. There is a USGS marker there and a primitive wind break.

Once you've enjoyed the views, return the way that you came, taking in the sights on your way down.
