Description
This well-marked trail, which is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, is a mix of doubletrack and dirt road.
A few miles in, Mullet Camp Trail leads east to a primitive, hike-in, tent camp site just off the Sebastian River. The trail conditions deteriorate a bit about six miles in and do not improve much until nearing the end of the loop.
Flora & Fauna
Longleaf pine, wiregrass, and saw palmetto.
Swallow-tailed kites, hawks, hummingbirds, robins, red-cockaded woodpeckers, Florida scrub jays, Bachman's sparrows, sandhill cranes, wood storks, southern bald eagles and American kestrel. Deer, coyotes, bobcats, wild turkeys, eastern indigo snakes, and gopher tortoises.
Manatees gather in the C54 canal from November through March.
