Description

The Blue Trail starts in the upper parking lot of the New Hope Overlook Access to the Jordan Lake State Recreation Area at the same location as the Red Trail. Heading counterclockwise on this loop trail, it passes through wooded areas with occasional lake views looking northward before reaching a bench marking the highest spot of the bluff at the northern tip of the peninsula at a point called New Hope Overlook. This is a great spot for lunch, a snack, or just to catch your breath and admire the views.

Continuing counterclockwise, the trail passes through camping sites and then travels very close to the shoreline with lake views looking westward. The Blue Trail joins the Red Trail to extend your journey by over 5 miles. There is a trail map at the junction of the Red and Blue Trails. The appearance of both Red and Blue blazes on trees can be confusing. It's best to pick up at trail map at the trailhead, or to use the Hiking Project mobile app to keep yourself on track.
