Dogs Leashed

Features Fall Colors · Lake

Family Friendly A very flat trail with a children's playground (Acorn Hill) at Roland Lake.

Description

From the trailhead on Falls Road, pass through the gate with a sign that states all dogs must be leashed (this is strictly enforced at times). The main trail eventually will become the Red Trail at the first split, where it splits into the Blue Trail and Red Trail. There are two other main trails that split off from the Red Trail (the Yellow Trail and Green Trail), along with an alternate Red Trail route.

The trail remains very flat and is well-maintained and nicely wooded. Lake Roland comes into view about 2/3 of the way through the route and stays in view until the end of the trail which ends near Paw Point Dog Park after crossing over the light rail tracks and ascending the steps.

Lake Roland has multiple amenities and upgrades to enjoy prior to starting the trek back, including two pavilions, a new pedestrian bridge at the dam, multiple paved paths, a children's playground (Acorn Hill) and dog park (Paw Point).

On the return journey, you may want to try a more challenging hike on the Green Trail or try the alternate Red Trail. Be aware that the Yellow Trail and Green Trail may lead to multiple other trails including the White and Orange Trail (along with unnamed trails). Hikers share this trail with the occasional biker.

More Roland Park information can be obtained at the park's website.
