With the option for longer or shorter loops, this is a great option for kids of all ages.

Description
Located about 25 miles east of Salem, Silver Falls State Park is located at 20024 Silver Falls Hwy. From Salem, take Hwy 22 east to Hwy 214 and follow signs to the park. The park is considered the crown jewel of the Oregon State Park system and it won't take hikers long to figure out why.
The Trail of Ten Falls is named for, you guessed it, the no less than ten waterfalls you'll experience. You'll pass alongside, above, and even behind waterfalls on this 8.7-mile loop through second-growth forest of Douglas fir, hemlock, and cedar. Silver Falls State Park is a place of many visitors, yet the trails are kept in amazing shape and are easy to navigate.
Once you descend into the gorge where the trail is located, you'll hike up and down rolling terrain and even stairs leading down the steeper sections.
With two options to shorten the loop, you can get a power-packed waterfall tour in only a couple of hours. The hike, regardless of the length you choose, is much better in a counter-clockwise direction, starting from the South Falls Lodge; that way you end by passing behind the spectacular South Falls.
