The parking lot requires a $5.00 daily parking fee or a seasonal Alaska State Park parking pass.
Description
Start at the Prospect Heights trailhead for an often uphill hike to an obvious summit with views of Anchorage, Cook Inlet, and sometimes Denali. The trail can be very slick in the winter months, so bring ice grippers.
Wolverine Peak is one of the most prominent Chugach State Park peaks near Anchorage. From the Prospect Heights trailhead, take a left at the T or you'll be heading up the Powerline to Glen Alps. Follow the trail around the hillside until reaching a wooden bridge across a small creek. There are several tangent trails which lead to other destinations along the way; just stay on the main trail until reaching a sign for
Wolverine Peak directing you to go right.
The trail then climbs steeply out of the forest. Ascend to the ridge and look for a large pile of rocks. From the large cairn, the trail follows a ridge up and to the left until it reaches a second ridge just below the peak. The summit views are excellent; in clear weather, you’ll see several lakes and nearby mountains.
