Description
Journey along the High Meadows Trail for a wonderful experience amidst sylvan hardwood forests complete with the remnants of a family farm from a bygone era and the beautiful, serene waters of the South Fork Quantico Creek.
Starting from the Turkey Run Ridge Parking Area, follow
Old Blacktop Road north for a few hundred yards until reaching the trailhead on your left. Begin along the orange-blazed trail, passing through beautiful, established hardwood forests until reaching a junction with the
Little Run Loop Trail. Continue right from the junction, keeping on the orange-blazed tread as the trail traverses mildly rolling terrain to the site of the historic Taylor Farm. While not much is known about the Taylors, the graveyard and building foundations they left behind help visitors to visualize the once vibrant farming community in this area.
From the farm site, continue on the trail to a junction with Scenic Drive at Parking Lot H. Cross the road to pick up the trail on the opposite side. From here, the trail continues through more beautiful forests for roughly one mile before ending in a T-junction with the
South Valley Trail.
