Description
From the campground, you'll first climb to the main Strawberry Lake and then travel along the banks of the lake. It is about 1.5 miles to the lake from the campground. There is a loop trail around the lake that can be explored or you can stay on the main trail and continue on.
You'll continue along the lake and see multiple campsites if you are looking for a place to stay for the night. Beyond the lake, you'll reach a waterfall at mile 2.8. The waterfall is quite spectacular and is around 60 ft tall. After the waterfall, there is a short spur trail that is only 0.6 miles which will take you to the small Strawberry
Lake (this is a smaller body, different from the initial lake encountered).
This small lake is tucked into a nice alpine basin. The main trail will continue to climb towards the pass, and once at the pass you can divert to the north and climb to the summit of Strawberry Peak. If you continue on the trail, you'll remain in the alpine and head toward Road's End Trailhead. The trail ends at an old road that is no longer open to vehicle travel. You can continue on the Slide Lake Trail if you want to make a large loop.
