Description
Rocky
Ridge Trail starts by going uphill from the first intersection straight from the Highway 1 parking area. If you're setting out on a full
Soberanes Canyon Loop, taking this trail first will allow you to complete the loop clockwise. The ascent goes across several hills surrounded by wildflowers in springtime and leaving the ocean at your back. Along the way, there's a nice vista point with a bench to stop and enjoy the view.
From Doud Peak, the track has a long descent to the junction with
Soberanes Canyon Trail and into the redwoods, a beautiful and refreshing way to complete a loop.
Notes: Trail signs are generally absent. The only signs are near the trailhead, so bring a paper map or use the
Hiking Project mobile app to stay oriented. Beware of the poison oak.
Flora & Fauna
Many springtime wildflowers, cobweb thistle, and poison oak.
