Easily accessible, when the gate is open; this is a nice outing especially when headed to the top of Noble Knob. The steep climb near the end can be tiresome for weary kids.
The road to access the trailhead is seasonally open to vehicle traffic. Check the current status from the USFS by

Northwest Forest Pass is required for vehicles.
Description
If you're looking for a lovely ridge hike that climbs gradually from the trailhead (until it rises steeply) to reach the Noble Knob Trail, this trail is for you. Near the beginning, this trail also intersects with the start of the Ranger Creek Trail. On a clear day expect to enjoy view of Mt. Rainer, Mt. Baker, Glacier Peak, and Stuart Peak along with the the distant Olympic Mountains. The rich forest and common wildflower blossoms make for pleasant going.
This is one of a number of trails open to mountain bikers in the area so keep an eye-out for descending riders.
